Career & Job Readiness Opportunities
Launch of New Job Readiness Resource Section
First and foremost, we want to extend our deepest gratitude to each of you for continuing to stand with us as proud members of NTEU Chapter 282. Your commitment to the union—especially during these uncertain times—is a powerful reminder of the solidarity that holds us together.
Thanks to the recent Ninth Circuit ruling extending administrative leave for affected employees, many of us have been granted precious time and the ability to continue receiving a paycheck while this matter is being addressed. This is not a permanent solution, but it is a lifeline that gives us time to regroup, plan, and prepare for what comes next.
It is our greatest hope—and indeed our mission—that you will be restored to your rightful positions within the agency. But hope must walk hand-in-hand with preparation. That’s why we strongly encourage you to take this time to invest in yourself: refine your résumé, explore new job opportunities, and participate in professional development.
NTEU Chapter 282 is committed to being more than just a union—we are your resource hub, your support system, and your advocates. We’ve created a new section on our website dedicated to helping you navigate this changing landscape. There, you’ll find listings for job fairs, résumé writing workshops, training classes, and guest speaker sessions designed to help you sharpen your skills and expand your opportunities.
While we continue to fight for the full restoration of your careers through ongoing litigation, we must also remain realistic and proactive. If the outcome is not favorable, you will be better equipped to move forward with strength, dignity, and readiness.
Now more than ever, your voice matters. We need every single member to call, email, and write to your Congressional representatives. Share your story. Make them feel the impact of these RIFs on your life—not just your job, but your career, your family, your future. Every message you send adds pressure and raises visibility. We cannot afford to be silent. They must know what’s at stake.
If you’re passionate about advocacy and want to do more, we are actively recruiting members for our Legislative Committee. If you're interested, please reach out to Executive Vice President Helen Robinson at NTEU282@gmail.com.
Thank you for your continued faith in the union, your strength in the face of adversity, and your dedication to the principles we all stand for. We will continue to walk beside you—every step of the way—and we look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events.
In unity and strength,
NTEU Chapter 282
